741 Private David Davis – Swifts Creek
Died of illness 7 October 1915
….. his two brothers returned to Australia
One of six children, David Davis was born at Cassilis in 1895 to William and
Elizabeth, the family having a life long association with the district. Three
of the boys, James, Albert and David enlisted. James and Albert fought
through to the end of the war and returned home. David was the last, and
the youngest, to enlist and signed up on 26 June 1915. He arrived at camp
for basic training on 14 August and died less than two months later on 7
October from pneumonia and heart failure. He was 21 years old.
